How to Be Happy. Related wikiHows

get here how to success, rich, and happy replicate from proven people

So happiness - isn't that the thing that all of us strive to find and keep? Nobody is happy all of the time, but some people are definitely more fulfilled than others. Studies on what makes people happy reveal that it doesn't have much to do with material goods or high achievement; it seems to whittle down to your outlook on life, and the quality of your relationships with the people around you.

Be optimistic.
In the 1970s, researchers followed people who'd won the lottery and found that a year after they'd hit the jackpot, they were no happier than the people who didn't. They called it hedonic adaptation, which suggests that we each have a baseline level of happiness. No matter what happens, good or bad, the effect on our happiness is only temporary and we tend to rebound to our baseline level. Some people have a higher baseline happiness level than others, and that can be attributed in part to genetics, but it's also largely influenced by how you think.[1] So while the remainder of this article will help boost your happiness, only improving your attitude towards life will increase your happiness permanently. Here are some excellent starting points for doing that:
How to Be Optimistic
How to Be Laid Back
How to Live in the Moment

Follow your gut.
In one study, two groups of people were asked to pick out a poster to take home. One group was asked to analyze their decision carefully, weighing the pros and cons, and the other group was told to listen to their gut. Two weeks later, the group that followed their gut was happier with their posters than the group that analyzed their decisions.[2] Now, some of our decisions are more crucial than picking out posters, but by the time you're poring over your choice, the options you're weighing are probably very similar, and the difference will only temporarily affect your happiness. So next time you have a decision to make, and you're down to two or three options, just pick the one that feels right, and go with it.
How to Follow Your Intuition
How to Stop Hesitating

Make enough money to meet your basic needs:
food, shelter, and clothing. In the US, that magic number is $40,000 a year. Any money you make beyond that will have negligible effects on your happiness. Remember the lottery winners mentioned earlier? Oodles of money didn't make them any happier, and it won't make you any happier. Once you make enough money to support your basic needs, your happiness is not significantly affected by how much money you make, but by your level of optimism.[3]
Your comfort may increase with your salary, but comfort isn't what makes people happy. It makes people bored. That's why it's important to push beyond your comfort zone to fuel your growth as a person.
Don't assume you're the exception, as in "Sure they didn't use their lottery money wisely, but if I won it, I'm spend it differently, and it'd definitely make me happier." Part of the reason many people are unhappy is because they don't think research-based advice about happiness applies to them, and they continue chasing more money and achievement and material goods in vain.[4]

Stay close to friends and family.
Or move to where other members are- so you can see them more. We live in a mobile society, where people follow jobs around the country and sometimes around the world. We do this because we think increases in salary will make us happier, but the fact is that our relationships with our friends and family have a far greater impact on our happiness than our jobs do. So next time you think about relocating, consider moving back to your childhood area of the country to spend time with your siblings and aging parents, before it is too late. [5]

Stop expecting your job to make you happy.
Many people expect the right job or the right career to dramatically change their level of happiness, but happiness research makes it clear that your level of optimism and the quality of your relationships eclipse the satisfaction you gain from your job.[6] If you have a positive outlook, you'll make the best of any job, and if you have good relationships with people, you won't depend on your job to give your life a greater sense of meaning. You'll find it in your interactions with the people you care about. Now that doesn't mean you shouldn't aspire towards a job that'll make you happier; it means you should understand that the capacity of your job to make you happy is quite small in comparison to you outlook on life and your relationships with people.

Engage in making the little moments special:
Research indicates that when you smile, whether you feel happy or not, your mood will be elevated. When we smile at others, we pass on our mood to to the people we smile at. With this in mind, it is important to consider the implications for happiness that the very act of smiling at another in passing has on not only our psyche, but that of the larger good. More importantly, when we smile at another, it shouldn't be with the expectation of having a smile in return. Sometimes the people we are smiling at who don't return the gesture may be the ones who need the smile the most. Just the act of doing something positive -- sharing a smile -- is enough to send our endorphins in the right direction, regardless of the response.

Keep yourself preoccupied with healthy people, healthy places, and healthy activities.
Healthy environments include the local gym, the library and book stores, museums and cultural places. Making good decisions for oneself has significant implications for the eventual outcome of happiness.

Consider an anti-depressant:
If you are seriously ill and have been thinking about taking your own life or have been seriously depressed for some time, an anti-depressant might be beneficial in returning your life to a healthy balance. Anti-depressants could also be taken in conjunction with herbal medicines, although medical advice should be sought in these cases. Saint John's Wort is an herbal medicine that might help alleviate some symptoms, but should be used cautiously, due to potential adverse impacts. B-100 vitamins are another natural way to elevate the mood, and should be considered as a daily supplement for better overall health.

See the best in others:
When we strive to look at the best in others, we end up seeing the best in ourselves. Shortcomings in others can be met with compassion and understanding, which removes any resentment or disdain that might otherwise surface. When we look at others with a healthy sense of acceptance, love, and compassion, we find that our moods naturally elevate to a higher level of happiness. Author of "Wealth" Kirby Thibeault suggests that we see what we feel and think. When we see the beauty in all others, the beauty within ourselves becomes more apparent.

10 Tips On How To Get Rich Fast

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if you could get rich tomorrow? What would you do with all that money? Well believe it or not it can be done. Now I didn’t say it would be easy I just said you could do it. Here are 10 tips on how to get rich fast.
1. Invest - Start young. In fact start while you are in elementary school, kindergarten is even better. It’s the beauty of compound interest and over time your money will grow into a nice nest egg. Okay if you are reading this you are probably too old to start in elementary school but you can get your kids hooked. As for you the best plan of defense is to invest 50% of your salary in a high risk market fund or the penny stock market. You’ve got a 50-50 chance. You’ll either make a million or be broke in 90 days.
2. Marry Rich - Now how difficult can this be? All you need to do is find someone who has loads of money and marry them. Okay I didn’t say you’d be happy just rich. Perhaps not a solution for most of us but it apparently works for a few.
3. Win The Lottery - Ya ya I know the odds of getting struck by lightening are better than the odds of winning the lottery but you can’t win if you don’t try and it’s one of the few ways I know of that you can get rich fast.
4. Rich Parents - If you come from a wealthy family then you are half way there. All you have to do is stay in their good books and convince mom and dad to not spend their money and leave it to you when they pass. After all why should your parents get to enjoy the wealth they reaped?
5. Get An Education - Go to school for lots of years, accumulate plenty of debt, and choose a career that pays big bucks. After about 10 years in your profession you should be rolling in the dough and you might even be filthy rich before you get old
6. Become A Star - Heck if Jennifer Aniston or Nicolas Cage can do it why can’t you. A couple of acting lessons and you should be set. All you need to do is head to Hollywood and strike it big. One good movie and you’ll be set for life.
7. Invest In Real Estate - Buy high sell low – whoops I think I got that backwards. Buy low, wait 10 years, 20 years, maybe even 30 years but inflation will have your investment growing by leaps and bounds and you could be filthy rich especially if you bought in an up and coming city while house prices were still low. Now if you bought in Hicksville USA you may have a problem. It might take more than your lifetime to see any dramatic increases. Oh well you can leave it to your kids who can leave it to their kids and in another 100 years or so someone’s going to be sitting pretty.
8. The Internet Way - Heck where have you been. A quick search on the Web will reveal plenty of sites that will teach you how to make $50,000 a day. Now I think most of us could live quite comfortably on that don’t you? All you need to do is part with about $500 and they’ll tell you the secrets of wealth in one page or less. If the first one doesn’t do it for you perhaps you might want to try a few more. Oh wait a minute. Perhaps what you need to do is set up one of these sights, then you’ll be the one getting rich off the other poor fools that part with their $500.
9. Bank Robbery - Okay highly illegal and could land you a lifetime in the slammer but desperate needs require desperate measures. After all if you get caught you might not be rich but you’ll have free room and board for the rest of your life and then you could write a book about what not to do when robbing a bank and well see you could get rich from your book. And even better, you’ll stay rich because there is really no place to spend it while in jail.
10. High Risk Work - Take on those high risk jobs no one else wants. You know counselor in Iraq, bean counter in Afghanistan, Oil tycoon in Iran. But hey if you live through it you’ll be rolling in the dough. What does it matter that 99% never live through it. You’ve got a 1% chance and when it comes to getting rich those are pretty good odds.
Sure most of these ideas are pretty off the wall but if getting rich fast was easy wouldn’t we all be rich? Then what fun would there be in that? We’d all have too much money and probably be bored to tears. So why not aim for better life with good friends, love, happiness, and enough money to live comfortably but not so much that you stop dreaming about what you would do if you were rich.

Five Words that will Change Your Life

Five Words that will Change Your Life

By Rene A. Bastarache, CI

In our efforts at self-improvement we find that there are so many areas that we would like to change. Some desire happiness or wealth. Some wish they could eliminate disorders or simply feel better. The list of what we would like to enhance seems to be endless.

What if there was a way or a simple formula to create these changes that only required a little practice? Would you do it? Aha, that’s the million dollar question. Some people are willing to slave for days, months and even years tirelessly trying to attain their goals but when given a simple, easy and proven formula will resist or doubt the validity of it.

Why do think that is?

It takes guts to be truly successful! That’s why there are so many who are not. That’s why there are so many sitting on the sidelines watching and ridiculing those who succeed. Here is an interesting fact of life that is often overlooked. Skepticism, ridicule, excuses and doubt are traits of the “gutless”. They are afraid of failing and find it easier and more comfortable to not try. It is safe to work on a change that is undefined and goes on for months with no visible means of ending. Why? If there is no ending then there is no disappointment. There is no possibility of not being successful. It is the easy way out.

Have I got your attention yet? Have you become inspirationally dis-satisfied enough to attain your goals of health, wealth or happiness? If you have then here is that proven, easy formula that I spoke of .

This is the five word formula that can change your life in any area you desire.

“To be _________ , act ___________ .”
(Fill in the blanks with whatever you would like to change or be in your life)

Here are some examples:
To be happy act happy.
To be sad act sad.
To be healthy act healthy.
To be sick act sick.
To be wealthy act wealthy.
To be poor act poor.

3 Simple Actions to Move

3 Simple Actions to Move
Limiting Beliefs, Poverty Consciousness, and Attitude all play a leading role in whether someone will fail or succeed. Tiny changes and even smaller habits will make huge differences in your bank account and your friendship accounts. Here's what to watch for and what to do when you see obstacles coming your way. Monday Monday

The Poverty Triangle
Most people live a life they have a lot more control over than they are taking responsibility for. You and I want to see people take responsiblity for themselves (including ourselves) in three facets of life.

Time Poor
Everybody is allotted the exact same amount of time every day. People only differ in what they do with that time. Where many tend to go wrong in this area is in over-estimating how much time is left to complete something, and under-estimating how long it will take. It's a common mistake. How would you rate yourself?

People Poor
Happily married couples say there are two key factors in being happy together.
1) Trust2) Time Together

Money Poor
People who are money poor are often quick to begrudge those who are wealthy.
Get over it.
Almost 90% of wealthy people started with an average background or were poor.
Never mind that most people who are wealthy have earned it fair and square. This poor attitude contributes greatly to money poorness. Changing attitudes about money can be hard, even if you are a normal person, with a normal job, and a normal paycheck.

Limiting Beliefs
Limiting beliefs....limit you.
This can be good or bad.
A positive limiting belief is one that limits you from doing bad or stupid things. "I don't steal because it's wrong". This is a limiting belief, in that it keeps you from doing something. In this case the limitation is good because it keeps you from doing something wrong.

Communication Breakdown?
Not many things are more important in shifting from failure to success than effective communication.
There are times when people unintentionally use the wrong words. At the wedding, I called my daughter's uncle by his brother's name. His brother died 10 years ago and of course in the presence of all the family, this was not my most comfortable moment.
Quick Thoughts
1. Humans are the only creatures who can consciously reduce stress.
2. Let us be quick to accept the responsibilities of our shortcomings, and always willing to help others overcome theirs.
3. It is far easier to maintain a good first impression than it is to fix a bad one.
4. Focus on what it takes to move from success to failure.
5. Success and procrastination are both subject to the laws of inertia.
6. Desire alone never replaces the actions needed to achieve that desire.
7. Success is not defined by how much you move up, but how much you reach out.
8. False optimism is not necessary. Be a realistic optiimist.
9. After many weeks of careful planning, contemplating, and preparation - I have decided to be spontaneous!
10. Beware of manipulation disguised as mutual benefit. Be involved in reciprocal relationships that are incredibly valuable to both people.
11. How you walk is more important than the path you choose.

The Choice Is Yours
Making good choices will propel you to success faster than poor choices. The only way to get better at making good choices is to make more decisions. Then learn from the decisions that are made.

Begin to Take Control of your Communication Messages - Consciously!
Impulse Activation moves your hand from their pocket to the shelf holding the magazines, candy bars and nail clippers when you're in line waiting to check out your stuff at the store.
